Search with Labels
Some may recall tags from the legacy Search product. We’ve brought them back as labels: Censys-applied tags that enable simple queries of commonly searched properties on hosts and certificates.
Search Hosts with Labels
Search for hosts by providing one of the values below for the labels
field.
The Censys Search UI also provides each of the labels as a clickable filter on the left-side panel.

- This service is a database. -
email
- This service is an email protocol. -
file-sharing
- This service is used for file sharing. -
iot
- This service is an IoT protocol. -
network-administration
- This service is a network administration protocol. -
login-page
- This HTTP service is serving a login page. -
network.device
- The software reported by this service indicates that it is a network management device. -
network.device.firewall
- The software reported by this service indicates that it is used for managing a firewall. -
network.device.soho
- The software reported by this service indicates that it is used for managing the networks of small offices/home offices. -
network.device.vpn
- The software reported by this service indicates that it is used for VPN termination. -
network.device.web-ui
- This web interface hints that it is used for the administration of network devices. -
onion-enabled
- The HTTP service returned an Onion header as part of its response. -
out-of-band-management
- The software reported by this service indicates that is one belonging to a self-described category of remote server management technologies. -
remote-access
- This service is designed to enable remote access. -
scada
- This service is an industrial control protocol. -
voip
- This service is a VoIP protocol. -
web.control-panel.hosting
- The software reported by this service indicates that it is a control panel interface for web host management.

Certificate Label Values
Labels related to validation, such as trusted
and revoked
, are current as of a certificate record’s validated_at
timestamp.

- This is an intermediate certificate. -

- This is a leaf certificate. -
ct
- This certificate has been published to a certificate transparency log. -
google-ct
- This certificate has been published to a certificate transparency log operated by Google. -
precert
- This is a pre-certificate. -
expired
- This certificate has expired. -
unexpired
- This certificate is not expired. -
redacted
- Some of the certificate’s names contain redacted fields. -
revoked
- This certificate’s trust is revoked by its issuer. -
self-signed
- This certificate is self-signed. -
trusted
- This certificate is valid. -
untrusted
- This certificate is not valid. -
ever-trusted
- This certificate is valid now or was valid in the past. -
never-trusted
- This certificate was never valid. -
was-trusted
- This certificate is not valid now but was valid in the past. -
unparsable
- This certificate’s contents could not be parsed. -
dv
- This is a Domain Validated certificate. -
ov
- This is an Organization Validated certificate. -
ev
- This is an Extended Validation certificate.
